Odoo vs SAP
Classic solution or modern technologies? In this article, we will introduce you to two ERP systems: Odoo and SAP Business One (SAP B1). Who is winning this battle today and who will stand up to the classic solution?
General ERP Comparison
Odoo and SAP B1
Odoo
Originally a Belgian company from 2005, it is built on open source and community collaboration. It is a set of interconnected business applications, where the client can assemble modules according to current needs and growth phase. It literally works like a jigsaw puzzle.
These applications also communicate with each other through one centralized database. Odoo can be installed as needed On-Premise (the software is installed locally in your company) and in the Cloud and is available in two editions: Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise.
Thanks to Odoo, ERP has become affordable even for small businesses (see pricing table below). Currently, Odoo provides its services to more than 7 million users and tens of thousands of companies around the world.
Odoo applications are perfectly interconnected, which allows you to fully automate corporate/business processes. Implementation and support are provided by certified Odoo partners, such as 26HOUSE, while SaaS support (applications run on the service provider's servers) is provided by Odoo Inc. itself.
The On-Premise version includes an Application Store with over 30,000 applications developed by the Odoo community, where developers add or modify applications, allowing everyone to choose what they need.

SAP B1
SAP B1 is a business management platform that was created 20 years ago, providing companies with supply chain management, product lifecycle management and CRM solutions. It can be deployed as a SaaS service, On-Premise or as a hybrid (different types of services interconnected in the Cloud).
Due to its high cost, the SAP ERP system is available mainly to large enterprises. Since this expensive robust solution was out of reach of small and medium-sized businesses, by purchasing the SAP B1 system, SAP penetrated the SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) market segment. SAP B1 is a lower-cost ERP software offering designed for faster deployment and minimal customization (see pricing table below).
SAP Business One, unlike classic SAP software, B1 is based on a two-tier client/server architecture, often referred to as a "fat client".
SAP has a large community of vendors, many of whom have developed their own modules to fill in the missing functionality needed for more complex manufacturing processes.

User interface comparison
Usability, especially in the case of enterprise software, is an often overlooked but important aspect when choosing ERP software. And for simple reasons. High-quality user-friendliness has a positive impact on employee work efficiency, reduces implementation difficulty and overall costs.
Users, in this case employees, who spend most of their working time using software, will certainly appreciate one that is easy and intuitive to use. Working in the system can thus become a pleasant part of the daily agenda.
